Dear Colleagues:

I hope you will attend the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Eastern Orthopaedic Association — “The Next 50 Years” — at the Omni Nashville Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee from October 20th through 23rd. It is a great honor to serve as President of the EOA. As steward of this organization, with its proud and storied history and a bright and exciting future, I am positive that our 52nd Annual Meeting will provide an abundance of academic and collegial social opportunities for all who attend.

Our Scientific Program Chair, Joshua Baumfeld is putting the final touches on an extraordinary program featuring world-class educators who will share their expertise in open forums, including debates on contemporary clinical issues. Our Social Program Chair, Robin Levine has drawn from the native beauty of Nashville to design a creative agenda of morning, daytime and evening activities that will appeal to all. Be sure to bring your significant other and children of all ages, who will find plenty to do. I have asked my good friend and mentor, Dr. Scott Boden to be our EOEF Presidential Guest Lecturer. Dr. Boden is recognized worldwide as an orthopaedic spinal surgeon, educator and researcher. I am also proud to announce that Congressman Mark Green has accepted my invitation to deliver the Howard Steel Lecture. Congressman Green represents the 7th district of Tennessee and was a business leader, decorated combat veteran and ER physician, and served in the Tennessee State Senate before his election to Congress.

A newly established Eastern Orthopaedic Association Outstanding Service Award will be presented to two very deserving individuals who have provided years of service to the EOA. The EOA prides itself on its educational mission and dedication to the growth of academic orthopaedic Residents and provides numerous Resident research awards and scholarships which distinguish us from other societies. The annual Resident Review Course, open to all, has drawn accolades from those who attend and has become a staple of this Meeting.

Most importantly, the EOA remains faithful to our unique “family culture,” which is unmatched by any other orthopaedic organization.

Come join us for a stimulating academic meeting while enjoying time with your family and colleagues at a wonderful venue.

Sincerely
Marc J. Levine, MD
