04 Apr Dr. Marc J. Levine Named Recipient of 2024 DeGroote Award
Hamilton, NJ, April 4, 2024 – Marc J. Levine, MD, Director of the Orthopedic Spine Surgery Program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton and a member of the RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group, has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 DeGroote Award.
Established to honor the work of Dr. Robert DeGroote in service to the medical profession, this award recognizes the Medical Society of New Jersey member whose selfless work benefits not themselves, but all of humankind. The award will be formally conferred at the Medical Society of New Jersey’s Annual Meeting Reception at the Heldrich Hotel and Conference Center in New Brunswick on April 19.
Dr. Levine surgically manages disorders involving cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, using minimally invasive spine surgery procedures that leave patients able to return to activities faster with less pain and risk.
He served as President of the Eastern Orthopedic Association from 2019 to 2021 and served as the 227th President of the Medical Society of New Jersey during the same timeframe. In addition to his work with the hospital, he is clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and continues to chair and speak at national spine conferences and orthopedic meetings. In 2020, NJBIZ named Dr. Levine a member of its Healthcare Power 50 for New Jersey. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, as well as a member of the North American Spine Society.
